Achieving Interoperability Requires Strong Attention to Data Solutions

After decades of technological innovation, complexity is built into many federal systems. Software AG Government Solutions, which specializes in connecting different generations of technology so that agencies get the most out of their assets, implements interoperability capabilities to break down silos in government. This allows agencies to share information with one another and with the citizens they serve.

President and Chairman of the Board Hank Bailey discusses how leveraging methodologies like APIs enables Software AG Government Solutions to integrate legacy and modern systems to promote simple data access. Agencies can enable their existing assets and strategically introduce new applications to achieve greater data visibility, accessibility and interoperability. This can help them comply with federal mandates and guidance, such as the Defense Department Data Strategy.

Bailey has spent more than 20 years at parent company Software AG, originally joining the company through its acquisition of webMethods. Before becoming president of Software AG Government Solutions, he has had both technical and business roles across global aerospace and defense companies.

Bailey solved a communications challenge for the Army that became the No. 1 feature request given the positive impact it had on the soldiers responsible for M1A2 tank communications. For the FBI’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (ARIS), he architected a solution that reduced the required system time to load fingerprints from 18 months to one weekend.
